President's Note - August 2024

11 Aug

Dear Members,

As we draw ever closer to the end of another record-breaking year, I ask myself what more can we do?
3 years ago, the committee, soon to be Board and Management team, set out a self-imposed target of 1000 Active Members, greater Female participation, development pathways for youth boys, and 100% completion of the building post-Women's World Cup 2023.

I am pleased to announce, we're all ticked off, with time to spare. The Board of Directors & I need to recognise the huge efforts that have been undertaken, as this cumulative effort is a reward for every single person involved, from first-time grassroots volunteers to the underpaid administrators.

1000 members is a huge achievement, and adding in the $1.6 million dollars in funding we have earned through our commitment to change and desire to become relevant, alone puts the club inside the top 12 clubs in the northern region, and with patience will see this base flourish and see greater returns in participation in our community growth.

From here we can nurture the Talent spaces ahead of the NZ Football's Talent Development pathway programme, a programme that the successful Tier One clubs adopted over 7 years ago, to which we are now firmly on the road to catching and aspiring to returning Papakura City FC to genuine higher echelons.

It's all about time and patience.

We need to thank the following contributors:

  • Wiri Licensing Trust
  • Pub Charities
  • Foundation North
  • One Foundation
  • Papakura Local Board
  • Four Winds Trust
  • MCCFCT
  • Grassroots
  • Cr Daniel Newman
  • Rima Nakhle MP
  • Hn Judith Collins MP

Without the support of the Trusts, and individual dignitaries sharing our vision, none of this expansion, new playing equipment, facility upgrades and Futsal development would be possible.

The Board and I, really do encourage all our Volunteers to continue influencing our members in positive play, particularly our huge junior contingent, the work that goes in every week, is, at a club this size borderline a miracle, to which we are greatly thankful.

Best,
DavePCFC Club President
