Papakura City FC Rebrands

7 Nov

An exciting, new and bold brand is coming to Papakura City Football Club. The brand has three main pillars, represented by the chevrons in the logo. Our Place, Our People, Our Football Club. These pillars will be built and given depth by all club members, partners and the local community as the club continues to grow and age into the future.

Over the next week, the process will be undertaken to switch everything over. New signage will be a part of the club's re-development plan and to be announced new shirt funding/partnership will see the logo on the pitch.

Inspiration was drawn from Our Place, Papakura. A Māori word from Papa (earth) and Kura (red) reflecting the fertile volcanic soil upon which the community was founded. Within our region lies an ancient Pā Site known as Pukekiwiriki which lies on our Maunga (Mountain) Red Hill.

Our People, club members and local community who call Papakura and the surrounding region home are diverse and from a wide range of walks of life. We celebrate this, with the logo proudly featuring our home “Papakura”. To acknowledge the history and those who have come before us, the establishing date of the club takes a featured place.

Our Football club will stand out in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and Aotearoa New Zealand, with the new logo/crest sitting on our distinctive blue and white striped jersey. In order to give our logo more prominence navy has been introduced to the logo. Navy has long been used within our wider branding and formally introducing it into the logo allows the unique combination with red to stand out further. There is a rich history in the colour red for our region and was a feature of our previous club crest.

Club-wide surveys identified a need for change, confirming that the new logo was heavily preferred over the current one. We would like to acknowledge those who may have not had the same opinion, the plan is to acknowledge the old logo as history. Including plans for a new History / Trophy space within the club room re-development plans.

We would like to thank Kevin from Sidekick Creative who has been tremendous in bringing our new brand and logo to life.
